Everyone deals with loss in their own way. There's no right or wrong way about it.
I felt horrible the entire week when news of my grandmother's (and last remaining grandparent for the past 7 years) death got wind of me last month. What you said about your grandfather feeling that her death was the "era that was dear to him", I can relate to. I spend a majority of my childhood (and countless summers) spending time with my grandparents so it does feel like the passing of an era, something now only accessible in my memories.

Shin, I'm sorry to hear about your grandma passing away. Grandparents are the coolest people around & sometimes we take them for granted - I think their deaths are very very sad.
I sending you & your family & especially your grandfather all my best wishes. And though I HATE when people say this...if she was ill beforehand, at least she's at rest now. Watching someone you love being terribly ill is horrible & I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I'm grateful that all four of my grandparents are still alive, but both my grandfathers are becoming quite ill, one with Alzheimers & the other has had chronic health problems for years. I love my grandparents more than my parents, when any of them pass away I will be a mess. I'm not looking forward to it. Thats why I get sad when other people's grandparents die

Happy fuckin Thanksgiving! Always my favorite holiday (since Halloween weekend isn't always on the holiday.) Traditionally did shit with my family, and do miss that, but just no time for the trip and I see them throughout December, anyway. Lately, we've been cooking here for everyone that stays in town, but decided, well, fuck those people. Instead, our friends who own a brewery invited about 20 folks to the brewery today for grub and free beer. Bringing a fried turkey and some rice dressing and getting shitcanned and full. Then Erin and I are doing another turkey tomorrow and a bunch of sides to eat on for a while. Shit like pancetta and brussel sprouts that no one truly appreciates like we do.

Pete and I are going to a friend's place later for food and the MST3K Turkey Day marathon. I'm a vegetarian now, but I still love Thanksgiving.

Was up til 4:30 eating and drinking whiskey. Erin woke me up and I thought for sure it was gonna be a pukefest. Then my mom gave me some pill she has for her vertigo, which is what they give chemo patients.
Holy fuck. Nothing has cured my hangovers other than facing them down for 20 years, from IVs to hair of the dog, and this knocked it out completely. I'm in awe.
