I'm not entirely sure, my understanding is that a lot of people have yet to be contacted, and this gives everyone enough time to take the time off they'll need.

2006 is starting out quite shitty with all these sicknesses & deaths. That sucks Yesterday my friends & I found out that one of our old high school buddies, who has been missing for years, his body has finally been found. What a relief. This guy & two of our other friends from school got into heroin when we were all about 16. They kept it a secret from everyone & the three of them would live & travel around together like a crazy little heroin commune family. It was pretty tragic. After a few years, one of them decided to get clean & she came back to us & I spent many a frantic night with the two of us trying to beat each other's ass while she was going cold turkey (she did get clean & stay so for a while, with some intermittent relapses. For now she is mostly clean because I told her if she gets back on heroin I'll slap her). The other guy is still alive, living interstate & has become a lifelong junkie with no desire to get clean, so we don't really see/talk to him. He sucks. But our friend who went missing, that was bad. He disappeared about 5 years ago, just like that with no trace. His parents called me yesterday to tell me his body - or rather, his remains - were found in some abandoned industrial refuse site in another state & so far it looks like he was killed. That wouldn't surprise me. I'm glad he was found dead though. His parents can finally stop worrying about him. I don't know how to feel though. I convinced myself he was dead from the time he went missing & I cried about him for days. He was a really super guy. He used to sing me Faith No More songs. I already knew he was dead, so I've grieved him, but now we know he's dead & everyone around me is sad, but I just feel relieved for his parents. I feel like a bitch. I don't know how to react to it.

considering that this is the only board i've ever posted to, you can imagine the withdrawal symptoms.

You're a character, Rit, so when you leave theres a noticeable dent & I don't like it. Having you around makes other people seem less narky sometimes.
How was your holiady season? Was it FESTIVE?

I like the word FESTIVE. I like using it in unholiday times, like in mid-June when I say "lets go out for some festive drinks" & people go "its not Xmas!"
Who said FESTIVE is reserved for Xmas, hmmm?

festive? hmm. no. it was slightly ugly, and i don't really want to rehash it now. but it wasn't all crack... i had fun here and there (all of which had to do with being away from family).

well, its nice to have you back anyway.
i also like the word 'complacency'. However - I don't like the word 'complacent" & I don't like being complacent. Kinda how I love tomato sauce but not really tomatoes/
